{"id":1027,"date":"2022-06-20T17:45:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T17:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/?p=1027"},"modified":"2023-10-14T18:21:18","modified_gmt":"2023-10-14T18:21:18","slug":"los-distintos-tipos-de-fibras-en-el-tallo-del-canamo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/en\/los-distintos-tipos-de-fibras-en-el-tallo-del-canamo\/","title":{"rendered":"Different types of fibers in hemp stem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Hemp stems have two types of fibers:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">Some long fibers that are rich in cellulose and pectin, present in the stem bark, and known as bast fibers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">And other woody short fibers that are found in the stem core, which are richer in lignin and xylans, which are commonly known as hurds (Petit et al. 2019 ; Figure 1).<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Figure 1. According to the industrial application, it will be more advisable to use one or the other type of fiber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4124 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Different-types-of-hemp-fibers.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"488\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Different-types-of-hemp-fibers.webp 488w, https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Different-types-of-hemp-fibers-300x278.webp 300w, https:\/\/greenandgrowth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Different-types-of-hemp-fibers-13x12.webp 13w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Bast fibers can likewise be divided in two types:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">The outermost layer of the stem, called long primary bast fibers, which are thicker, longer and richer in cellulose,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">and the long secondary bast fibers that are in direct contact with hurd, which are thinner, shorter, and have more lignin than the primary ones.
